Occupy Exhibition Salford UK 2013 Atypical inhabits an ambiguous position within my practice, resisting straightforward categorisation as either situation-specific installation or autonomous sculpture. The work was conceived explicitly in response to the spatial and conceptual parameters of the Occupy exhibition, a curatorial initiative inviting contemporary artists to interrogate the possibilities of smaller, domestic environments as sites of display. |

Manchester School of Art Manchester UK 2009 Arch constituted my first situation-specific installation and emerged at a formative stage in my practice, when I had begun to consider “space” as a medium in its own right. The work was developed within a painting studio at the Manchester School of Art, to which I had access during the summer recess. The studio was largely empty, save for two pieces of timber left behind as offcuts from recent renovation work. |
